The 2nd RM Technical Forum took place on Thursday 14th December, at Girona in Spain. The atmosphere in the Conference Centre of the Girona Auditorium was extremely warm and nice, full of people interested in Rapid Manufacturing, with interventions of a very high technical level as expected.
It was for Dr. Livia Cevolini -Marketing and Sales Director from CRP Technology- a great honour to be part of the conference, and her paper was a great success. “How to reach Rapid Manufacturing? Carbon fiber and SLS” was a subject that captured the attention of the whole public.
She focused her intervention on the performance, quality and repeatability that, nowadays, every customer is looking for in a very short time. These are the fundamental requirements in Aerospace, Motorsport and Automotive. In particular Dr. Livia cevolini illustrated her speech with different Case Studies. For the Motorsport, she spoke about Red Bull Racing, using WINDFORM materials for wind tunnel model and for the racing car, and about the Penske Racing, demonstrating the practical advantage of WINDFORM with the wind tunnel repeatability. For the Automotive Case Studies, the first was about the Intake Manifold made in Windform XT for VM Motori SpA –each prototype was prepared in 2/3 days, shortening 10 times or more the standard lead-time with the best performance- and the second was about the Headlight Washer Cover Flap for a street top car for Lamborghini SpA. Last but not least the Aerospace Case Study of the Cold Duct Fan, a project that could only be developed and tested in a short time and with so a high performance with laser sintering and carbon fiber filled WINDFORM® XT.
