Three big events for Windform in the last month
Monday, 04 December 2006

In the last month, CRP Technology took part to three big and successful Events, and is happy to give you all the details:

dsc_02076-7 November
The GLOBAL MOTORSPORT CONGRESS that took place at Koln in Germany has been a great success. Eng. Franco Cevolini -Chairman and Director of CRP Technology, personally taking care of the R&D, Rapid Prototyping and Mechanical Departments- explained the direct use of rapid prototypes, made by Laser Sintering Technology and WINDFORM® materials, on road racing motorbikes.
In particular he showed several different fields of application for WINDFORM® XT and WINDOFORM® GF, largely used by CRP Technology on its 250cc motorbike, R250, that attended the 2005 World Championship in 250cc Class.

The Euro-uRapid 2006, INTERNATIONAL USER’S CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION ON RAPID PROTOTYPING & RAPID TOOLING & RAPID MANUFACTURING, still in Germany but at Frankfurt.
Eng. Franco Cevolini explained the “Rapid Manufacturing with carbon reinforced plastic” (applications for motor sport, aerospace and automotive small lot production part).
The Rapid Prototyping techniques, that first were applied mainly for concept design and modelling, now are required to realize production parts, or at least really functional prototypes.
Parts performance should therefore allow to jump directly form 3D CAD drawings to functional models and finished parts, in order to shorten lead-times.
The latest carbon fibre filled material for laser sintering technology, branded WINDFORM® XT, has paved the road that others are trying to pursue.
Eng. Franco Cevolini presented different Motorsport, Automotive and Aerospace Case studies to help understand the difference between WINDFORM®XT and previous technology.

The INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FUTURE INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS OF ADDITIVE FABRICATION, with Chairman Terry Wohlers (Wohlers Associates, Inc. – USA), during the Euromold 2006, still at Frankfurt in Germany.Dr. Livia Cevolini -Marketing and Sales Director from CRP Technology- explained the “Parts That Go on the Final Car”, as for motor sports and automobiles, the quality and production time of high performance products can make all the difference.
She focused her intervention on which are the last requirements for end-users looking for Rapid Manufacturing and Rapid Casting and also demonstrated that F1 is not the only sector where real Rapid Manufacturing and Rapid Casting allows companies to gain a great plus compared to their competitors, as verified in the following case studies: the Intake Manifold for Dyno Tests (VM motori S.p.A.), the Headlight Washer Cover Flap for a street top car (Lamborghini S.p.A.) and Rapid Casting Wheel Uprights and Gearbox (Minardi F1 Team).
These big Events always are a great opportunity to renovate CRP Technology’s image of high professionalism and quality and service, and our special thanks go to the organisation of all three Events, as each one has been very interesting and useful at the same time, with many interventions of a very high technical level and full of information as required.
