Windform
®, The most innovative product for the most advanced technology

Creating a prototype is always a challenge. It involves stepping over the limits of knowledge and experience. The Rapid Prototyping (RP, Layer Manufacturing Technique) represents the most advanced technique in obtaining, in rapid time, the finished testing model.

CRP’s Research & Development area has developed new materials, which, applied to the Selective Laser Sintering, have given life to Windform®: a product which allows the creation of perfectly functional prototypes for more diverse applications.

Windform® is a unique product within the prototyping sector. There is not one single product on the market which has any of Windform’s characteristics or comes close to it’s performance.

Windform® puts your imagination to the test with it’s countless potential applications.

WINDFORM and RP Tempering™
Fire Retardant treatment: UL 94 V0

rplogobestThe useful collaboration between CRP Technology and Temperman utilizing RP Tempering™ technologies began after the first meeting of Eng. Livia Cevolini and Mr. Baran Dag during Euromold 2006.

After that, many other companies started inquiring about RP Tempering™ and that’s enough to underline the importance of these new fire retardant treatments.

It is for CRP Technology a great honour to have been chosen by Temperman to be part of this new reality, it further demonstrates that Windform XT is now a “perfect” product, actually the first carbon fibre filled material for laser sintering, that besides its already well known great mechanical properties, has also incredibly high thermal properties, ideal for the fire retardant treatment now.

A significant amount of time and effort have been put into the development of the RP Tempering™ Fire Retardant (FR) additives and engineering processes and the results are promising and really consistent.

The main target of this great news is obviously the aerospace market, that absolutely needs these kinds of treatments. By the way, CRP Technology and the development with RP Tempering™ technologies won’t stop here, the product will become for sure very useful for motorsports as well, as many pieces of the racing car in order to support very high heat during competitions.
The treatment was done to the Windform XT test pieces by using two of RP Tempering™ products:

  • Proto Reinforcement(C) Compound
  • Fire Retardant Hi-Temp Protoplass(C)

UL 94 Burn Test results report (4th April 2007)

Par3 Technology
CRP Technology & Protodag Technology (Temperman Initiative)
Test Engineer: Jim Reinhardt - Project Managers: Earl Dunlap & Baran Dag
Independent Test Center: Porter Labs

Three kinds of test were done:

1.    Horizontal Burn H-B Tempered
2.    Surface Burn 5VA or 5VB Tempered
3.    Vertical Burn V-0 V-1 V-2 Tempered

For the Horizontal Burn H-B Tempered, the Fire Retardant Hi-Temp Protoplass© + Windform XT was used. The test was done on 15 samples and they all passed, with absolutely no failures, no holes and no drips.

The Fire Retardant Hi-Temp Protoplass© Tempered Windform XT was used for the UL94 5VA & 5VB Surface Burn Test, with still 15 samples that all passed the test without any holes or drips.

The third and last test was done on the Fire Retardant Hi-Temp Protoplass(c) Tempered Windform XT with Vertical Burn V-0 V-1 V-2 Tempered. Once again, all 15 samples passed, with no drips and no holes. They all passed either v.0, v.1 and v.2.
